Values and Ethos

Our aim is to bring out the best in every pupil that attends Thriplow Church Of England Primary School

Our Core Values

Our School Christian Vision

At Thriplow Primary School our vision is to demonstrate God’s love by “clothing ourselves with kindness” and “shining our light before others”.

Every child is encouraged to strive for academic excellence and to make a difference in their own lives, in their families and in the communities we serve.

Values

Our Thriplow School values link into our school vision and are woven into everything we do within our school community. Our values are biblically-based and explored in depth with the children.

SERVICE

...I, your Lord and Teacher, have just washed your feet. You, then, should wash one another's feet. I have set an example for you, so that you will do just what I have done for you.

John 13:14

KINDNESS

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.

Proverbs 3:3-4

ACHIEVEMENT

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

HOPEFULNESS

We put our hope in the Lord; he is our protector and our help. We are glad because of him; we trust in his holy name.

Psalm 33:20-21

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

1 Peter 3:15

COMPASSION

…The teacher of the Law answered, “The one who was kind to him.” Jesus replied, “You go, then, and do the same.”

Luke 10:37

CONFIDENCE

For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control.

2 Timothy 1:7

Our vision and values are support by those of DEMAT.

To Learn. To Know. To Lead Out.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

Collective Worship

Collective worship takes place each day. We come together as a community before God. Daily worship is rooted in Christianity and covers our 6 chosen school values linked to the 5 DEMAT values. Pupils and staff come together for this spiritual time together to reflect on their lives and how they live them to the full. Pupils develop their moral and social thinking during worship; each worship has time for silence and reflection to think and pray for what we are grateful for and how that worship will impact on our lives moving forward.

Parts of our Collective Worship are led by the children. Our Year 6 Worship lead begins by leading the school in an opening sentence and children from all year groups lead the school in prayer.

Our weekly pattern for Collective Worship is as follows.

Monday: Whole school Collective Worship led by Headteacher

Tuesday: Key Stage Collective Worship

Wednesday: Collective Worship led by a representative from the church

Thursday: Praise Collective Worship

Friday: Celebration Collective Worship. Families of children in school are welcome to attend.

Collective Worship is exceptionally important to us as a school community, however, parents do have the right to withdraw their children. Please make contact with the Headteacher to discuss this.

Our light must shine before others so that they will see the good things we do and praise our Father in heaven.
